MEMBERSHIPS
The
P.O.C. dues structure is very
reasonable, providing affordable quality services. Once the severance
process is complete the dues structure will be altered, but it is still guaranteed
to be less than your current CSLEA dues with no loss of services.
MEMBERS
are peace officers, as defined by
830 PC, employed
within the State of California and represented by the current bargaining
unit 7, or a retired annuitant. Dues are
$30.00 per month,
including
Legal Defense and access to all other member benefits. Full members have
full voting rights.
LIMITED MEMBERS
are the same as full members but do not receive
Legal Defense – choose this membership level if you currently receive
Legal Defense
elsewhere. Dues are $15
per month. Limited members have full voting rights.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
are peace officers in any class noted above
not
represented by bargaining unit 7. Dues are
$25.00 per month,
including
Legal Defense and access to all other member benefits. Associate members
may not vote on contract issues or those involving
P.O.C. management.
RETIRED MEMBERS
are any retired peace officer. They are eligible
for limited benefits such as group insurance and other discounts. Dues
are $10.00
per month. Retired members have no voting rights.
HONORARY MEMBERS
are people who show a particular interest in
promoting the objectives of the Association. The
P.O.C. Board of Directors shall select
honorary members, who will not vote, pay dues, nor receive benefits.
CORPORATE MEMBERS
are those companies which affiliate themselves
with
P.O.C. and who agree to pay a corporate
rate, determined by the
P.O.C. Board of Directors. Corporate
members have no vote nor do they receive benefits except Corporate
Members may advertise and link their company on the
P.O.C. web site. Corporate members
shall benefit from their corporate status as seen fit by the
P.O.C. Board of Directors.
How are
Memberships Different?
Peace Officers of California (P.O.C.)
will create encrypted interactive on-line user profiles for every
member. Each member will be assigned an ID# and Password that will
allow them to activate their membership. Personal information will not
be linked to your membership and it will not be part of your ID# or
password. Instead, when a member changes information content, a
notification will be sent to
P.O.C.
staff and they will manually make the changes within a short time period
(24-to-48) hours on a separate off-line system located within a secure facility.
Members will also get the use of their very own
name@peaceofficers.org e-mail address as part of their
membership. Our
systems are rated
HIPPA and
Sarbanes-Oxley compliant for the secure transfer of
confidential information.
That way you can select what type of additional or reduced
benefits
you want to pay for. Imagine being able to look at what your
dues
are and changing your settings, with respect to
insurance
or other
benefits,
whenever and wherever you want. We will allow you to customize your
membership in every way including receiving union updates and notices –
get everything, just your affiliate news, or receive only high-level
alerts via e-mail, text message, or good old fashion mail.

For those of you who want to manually change your membership status
options we will have a live operator take and respond to your needs.
We will post schedules,
meeting notes, vote records and financial documents and
allow for any member to submit questions to the
P.O.C.
Board for response – you cannot do any of that at CAUSE / CSLEA. Where
are their vote records,
meeting minutes, financial documents and rules?
This is about money, but not just for pay increases. The President of
CAUSE / CSLEA thinks your dues money is his money. He does not want to
give up his stipend, car, insurance, gas card, and unlimited expense
account – we say unlimited because nobody knows how much money he has
been paid.
P.O.C.
members have asked for vote records and other documents regarding the
use of nearly
$60,000 to no avail. Maybe you
should ask?
P.O.C.
will be a new type of union. One established on democratic principles
and transparency. 15-years of the same leadership’s bad decision making
and the pay disparity between bargaining unit 7 members and other peace
officers has never been worse.
Whom do you think the Governor or the Legislature is more likely to give
a pay increase in tough times –
P.O.C. CAUSE / CSLEA?
You can be part of the change to help State Peace Officers gain
pay-parity:
