Sacramento Bee Article Nails CSLEA . . . CSLEA Responds and Confirms Its
Own Ineptitude
If by
“inexplicably,” CSLEA means 'obviously' then they are correct!
December 10, 2010 -
In Thursday’s
Sacramento Bee State Worker Column (9th December), author Jon
Ortiz describes the chilly relationship between Governor-elect Jerry
Brown and CSLEA. Read it for yourself
here, along with the update
here.
Later that afternoon, CSLEA issued a press release
here stating that they are,
“. . . the central thread in the public safety
net of California and recently reached an agreement with the
Schwarzenegger administration—until an inexplicable last-minute change
of mind.”
Are you a sworn peace officer in Bargaining Unit 7?
Are you still a CSLEA member?
After reading Ortiz’s article and CSLEA’s response aren’t you
asking yourself why?
Are you a
Fish and Game Warden or
State Park Ranger* and still a CSLEA member? You REALLY need to ask
yourself and your agency association leadership why! Are you going to
keep paying CSLEA to use your $dues money against you?
Additionally, if CSLEA were to have received that contract, they believe
you would only be able to voluntarily exit the organization every three
years. If you get stuck in CSLEA, you will be there for three additional
years, and face the subsequent dues increases they will assuredly force
upon you . . . so they can pay their consultant for the fabulous advice
detailed in an earlier article by Jon Ortiz issued last week (read
here).
P.O.C. is still here despite the
desperate cries from
CSLEA
in July 2009 and earlier that we were not going to
last six months.
As detailed in the articles, CSLEA spent nearly $2 MILLION of your dues
money on the losing Gubernatorial and Attorney General candidates. How
“inexplicable” is the reaction to that? How successful do you think they
are going to be with the new administration? About as successful as they
were in stopping furloughs for peace officers with the current
administration? Probably less, and everyone can look at their paychecks
to see how well it worked out the last time. None of this is
“inexplicable.” CSLEA just has a great deal of explaining to do. CSLEA
thinks of itself as the “central thread”. . . and maybe that explains
why all of its members are just barely hanging on by a thread.
The form(s) for resigning from CSLEA are available
here or below. We have legal
defense which you can check out and verify at
PoliceAttorney.com. We don’t have the $1 dollar off coupons to the
Monterey Bay Aquarium that CSLEA has as a main benefit. But you will
save money by quitting CSLEA and joining
P.O.C.
Since Peace Officers are held to a higher standard, is it not time for
you to take a few moments to apply this to yourself as well as the
people that represent you? Take action now and do something to let CSLEA
know in no uncertain terms of your disdain.
P.S. To all the non-sworn members of CSLEA who have contacted
P.O.C., we are sorry, but we are a
peace officer only organization and cannot take non-peace officer
members at this time. However, do not give up hope as everyone is aware
that you need help with a transition path that will eventually be forth
coming.
* P.P.S. Why not ask CSLEA why you have no association web-site? Why not
ask them why it was taken off-the-air contrary to the principals of a
democratic system?

The Buzz: Game Wardens are a National
Geographic Hit:
"It's no secret the state has a huge budget deficit, but there's
reason to be optimistic: it has a huge hit on its hands.
"Wild Justice," the National Geographic Channel's reality show about
California game wardens, drew a combined 3.2 million viewers with
its Sunday 9 p.m. preview and 10 p.m. premiere, according to a
network press release. The 10 p.m. debut became the highest-rated
series launch in the channel's history, reaching 2.1 million
viewers" . . .

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 28 9PM |
Warden Brian Boyd and his trainee John Fraley take an unusual
approach to catching hunters suspected of trafficking bear
gallbladders. Using real bear paws to mask his tracks and a scent
drag to imitate bear presence in the area, Boyd hopes to lure the
hunters into a trap that will enable him to catch them red-handed.
Meanwhile, Wardens Jerry Karnow and John Nores use aerial recon to
track down what they believe is a thrill-killing poacher. Later, San
Francisco Warden William OBrien organizes a squad to inspect for
illegal species sold in Chinatown. The group finds a myriad of
oddities, several suspicious species for sale, and a suspect who
eludes questioning.
California Wardens Bag More Poachers
The Sacrament Bee today (September 13th 2010) features this major
article on its Front Page about how poaching continues to climb and
climb as the number of wardens continues to decline and decline. Where
will it all end?
