Regardless of their
medical training, hospital administrators have no business making law
enforcement policy – that includes most decisions regarding staffing
levels, HPO training requirements, and decisions on equipment.
To most hospital
administrators HPO’s are an unwanted necessity and a budget drain
required in the treatment of their clients. Hospital administrators
have proven themselves unable, unwilling, or incapable of improving the
working conditions for HPO’s.
Peace Officers of
California (P.O.C.) will actively
oppose the political appointment of any hospital administrator who does
not support our mission. Furthermore, we will work to replace current
appointees who lack common sense on public safety issues and take legal
action against those that obstruct justice. Everyone knows that when it
comes to state hospital management that “no news is good news.” All we
have to do is shine a bright light on hospitals and watch them scatter.
HPO’s need
straight-line law enforcement with
a cop at the top of the ticket making law enforcement policy decisions.
To that end,
P.O.C. is determined to help the Governor follow through
with recommendations from his CPR report that the State establish a
California
Office of Public Safety (COPS).
Whom do
you think the Governor or the Legislature is more likely to give a pay
increase in tough times –
P.O.C. or
CAUSE / CSLEA?
You can be part of the change to help State Peace Officers gain
pay-parity:
